The team caused great delight to the children in our village with their Christmas parade through the streets. From all of them, the awe-struck children, we say thank you!

We, the eight Betty’s Bay Community Volunteer Fire & Rescue Team members, would like to thank everyone for their support and vigilance during the Festive Season…we are only as good as our ‘eyes & ears’ in the community. Although we had a relatively quiet time on the fire side, we were, and still are, on regular standby duty. Last year in addition to our ongoing training several of us successfully completed our ICS 100 & 200 courses. We are currently doing an intensive first aid course to up-skill and be better prepared to serve our community.

Fire season is not over and continues until April and we ask everyone to please make a concerted effort to ensure their living space is as fire wise and fire safe as possible. There are several documents on the BBRA website to assist should you need any information.

2023…

We have a number of important projects for this year and to kick the year off we would like to purchase a more suitable vehicle for the team. As awesome as our little 2×4 Nissan Hardbody is we just don’t all fit!! We desperately need a 4×4 double or king cab. Our fund is currently sitting at R100 000.00 so we will be looking at creative ways to increase the fund and possibly (hopefully) get buy in/sponsorship from a willing motor manufacturer…any and ALL leads will be welcome!

A Fire Safe community is EVERYONE’S responsibility, including town planners, architects, developers, builders, ALL property owners and volunteer fire fighters…the change starts with YOU!
