On MPA day, Silversands west looked like the storm had swept it clean. Patrick Boltller and Barbara Jenman uncovered a pile of degraded pieces of plastic film and packaging tape, small coloured plastic pieces and sticks and glass, two cigarette lighters, two cigarette butts and a few bottles.
We took a breather to admire the dunes.
Ronnie van der Westhuizen worked on the R44 for about 800m from Porter Drive towards the Caltex garage. He collected a broken car windscreen, a fridge door, car parts, big plastic containers. He half-filled his Bantam bakkie with a mixture of plastic and glass bottles, takeaway packaging, bags of normal household refuse, broken glass bottles, cigarette and chip packets. A big challenge! There are no photos as he was so busy doing a solo clean-up on Clarence Drive! He said that seeing the fynbos made it worth it.

Sandy and Grant Immelman did a circular beach/road clean up along from Stony Point. Their worst trash item was lots of fishing line! The biggest item was the green diving bag you see in the photo. The rest were empty bottles, a few sweet and chip packets.
Gemma and Jeremy Cronin worked on the eastern section of Silversands and found only two sucker sticks, one can, six bits of paper, one broken glass bottle and a plastic packet!
