Over the festive season we received twenty puppies brought in from members of the public who had bought them from children. Sadly four were extremely ill and had to cross the rainbow bridge.

In conjunction with Law Enforcement, we were able to track three children. After much persuasion they informed us that there were two ladies in Proteadorp who were breeding specifically for selling. As you can understand, the children were reluctant to tell us who these women were for fear of getting into trouble. These children were enticed from the informal settlement, told to sell these little pups for between R100 to R150 and in return they would receive R10.00 for each puppy sold. We are currently trying to locate these women.

If you or your visitors are approached by children selling puppies, please ask to see the pups, tell the children that you are calling Law Enforcement and bring the pups to KAWS. We will ensure that the puppies have a full medical check and are adopted into the kind of home that they should have had at the start.
