Hello all BBRA members
Anyone who has chosen to live in Betty’s Bay has seen and experienced the amazing natural environment in a place that we are privileged to call home. So, this is an opportunity to position the Hangklip Botanical Society and to explain why we as members believe it is important for home owners to know what the HBS does, thereby hopefully encouraging people to join.
Belonging to the HBS is a group of people who believe that we need to, indeed must, preserve the incredible fauna and flora diversity that we live within every day. The HBS offers many different activities and hosts many events that we know make a difference in keeping our beautiful Betty’s Bay the way that it should be kept.
We would love to answer any flora related questions that you may have, but we would be so thrilled to have you join a truly amazing team of people who work daily to keep our Betty’s Bay the way Nature intended. Included amongst the activities of the HBS are monthly talks and walks, garden visits, book launches, hacking, assisting the staff of the Harold Porter Gardens (HPG) in keeping the beds weed free, saving the fynbos from being bulldozed flat before building takes place, protecting endangered fynbos species and more. The book and craft shop in the Gardens is run by the HBS and profits made there are ploughed back into conservation activities as well as in projects to assist maintenance in HPG – Ed
