UPDATE ON THE R44 PETITION
UPDATE FOUR
We are happy to report that having petitioned the Western Cape Provincial Parliament (WCPP) on 27 March 2026, our petition was tabled in Parliament on 22 May 2026. It was approved by the Office of the Speaker, and referred to the relevant committee.
The Procedural Officer has notified us that we have been invited to brief the Standing Committee on Mobility, together with the relevant authorities, representatives of the Provincial Traffic Department, Caledon Provincial Traffic Services and the Overstrand Traffic Department.
The Petition Steering Committee has engaged with the Overstrand Chief Traffic Officer, and a strong enforcement presence was evident along the R44 on Sunday 16 August.
