Once again, we express our gratitude and thankfulness to all our patrons and contributors for assisting us in financing the first camera project, the cell phone radio project and equipment purchases. Without your donations, we could not have achieved what we have to date.
Thank you too for your support of our vision and intentions. We have come to the end of our camera budget, however, we feel that there is a need to continue putting up more cameras across Betty’s Bay. We do have a private camera programme, through which you share your camera feed with us. Another option is where you and/or your neighbours get together and finance a few cameras for your street/block. The Watch will monitor these cameras and you will also have full access to the camera feed.
We have just put up 10 camera signs but need more for better coverage visibility. We also would like to put up fresh neighbourhood watch signs throughout Betty’s Bay that have our emergency number on it and for improved general visibility.
As you are aware, we have partnered with ASK, BOLT, CU LIVE and SBS in the service of our community. We have recently added Pringle Bay street watch and Vita Schola to this partnership. This implies that we are all in communication with each other during the night hours and call on each other for help. You may very well ask: Now why Vita Schola? Well, Vita Schola operates in the same parameters as us and have made their sniffer dogs available to us where required. We have already used their dogs with great success. We also have an open communication channel with Gordon’s Bay, if we require assistance from them.
As the focus is on crime prevention, we urge all the residents of Betty’s Bay to keep their eyes and ears open and to report anything anomalous right away. This is the way crime may be prevented.
