Barbara Jenman, heading the Waste Management portfolio, invites you all to join a Betty’s Bay Beaches Clean-up on Saturday 4 February from 9 to 10 am.
She writes: Meet Wilna Swart (083 333 6810) at the entrance of the main beach or me (Barbara 082 338 4109) at the Park Road entrance to Silversands. Bring a supermarket bag to pick up some of those annoying smaller plastic pieces – large bags for the other litter will be supplied. We will be able to observe the seabirds and maybe a seal or an otter while working. How lucky are we to have such a magical coastline to enjoy. See you there!
About Recycling she adds:
It is time to start talking about AVOIDANCE when sending our refuse to landfill. Three mini RECYCLING sessions are planned for Tuesdays 7, 14 and 21 February from 10-11 am. Come and find out about the Hermanus Recovery Centre to where our clear bags are taken and bring along any concerns you might have.
Let’s get the famous three Rs operating- REDUCE, RE-USE, RECYCLE. Contact Barbara for information about the venue.
