TOWN-PLANNING AND PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT
(Town-planning Issues / Engineering Services / Building Control)
Vehicles: Although work is done on the roads / storm water drainage system, the issue regarding vehicles remains volatile:
Storm Water: One vehicle used for storm water issues is still out of commission. The second vehicle is operational.
Grading: Both vehicles are not operational.
Gravel: The amount of “gravel” available is currently low. 600 tons of additional “gravel’ is in the process of being purchase. During the Mid-term Budget (±Jan 2025) the aim is allocate enough budget to purchase another 4500 tons of gravel. However, this depends on the outcome of the Budget Review.
For now, storm water systems and roads are repaired on an ongoing basis when weather conditions/ availability of vehicles and stock make this possible.
Tar: The available tar available is almost depleted. 600 bags of tar have been ordered/will be dropped soon.
Betty’s Bay Roads / Storm Water: Pertinent stormwater problems that will receive attention:
Diastella Erven 3892/3893. This issue is in the process of being addressed. Building Control is to advise on the way forward.
Erf 2243 Partridge Road (ref no: 2102548). The issue is still pending and will be investigated. Latest information is that a site inspection was conducted on 1 November 2024.
Adenandre Street will be scraped / gravelled soon. BUT vehicles are currently not functional!
Crassula Yard Erf 4000. This issue was investigated. However, the recurrence of water is confusing as it is not clear where the water comes from. This is an ongoing investigation under Building Control.
Mirror in Seaview: The new mirror was ordered. Once received, it will be installed.
Entrance from Clarence to Seaview (Kleinmond side): This remains an urgent issue. The junction will have to be fully tarred.
Stormwater problems/Potholes: As the Municipality becomes aware of problems, they are addressing them within their capabilities, given working conditions (weather).
Standing Note: Where an urgent problem arises over a weekend, the Control Room must be contacted (028 313 8111). The Control Room also gives a reference number. If the problem is only reported on Collab the situation is not given attention until the Monday.
Speed Bumps: These will be put back once the scraping of the roads are finished.
Building Control: This is a new issue added to this portfolio. Updated stats will be provided once obtained from OM Kleinmond Building Control. The stats have been requested again today (13 Nov).
