A message from Ward 10 Councillor Theresa Els:
Water Pipe Replacement Project Kicks Off in Crassula Crescent, Betty’s Bay
One of the first issues I had to tackle as Ward 10 councillor was the frequent bursting of water pipes in our community. In fact, my very first public meeting was dedicated to this issue. Since then, we’ve made it a top priority to address the ageing infrastructure.
We are proud to announce that the next round of water pipe replacement projects has officially started — today in Crassula Crescent, Betty’s Bay! 👷
Here’s how the process works:
Data from the municipal EMIS system is used to identify and map problem pipelines.
The Water Master Plan helps determine which pipelines need upgrading.
Problem areas are reviewed with operational departments.
Pipelines are ranked by urgency and included in tenders according to the budget.
Budget Breakdown: 🔹 2022/23 & 2023/24 Financial Years
Betty’s Bay – R3.8 million (1,730 meters replaced)
Pringle Bay – R4.8 million (2,429 meters replaced)
Kleinmond – R5.5 million (2,645 meters replaced)
Upcoming Budgets:
2024/25 – R7.0 million (Excl. VAT)
2025/26 – R5.0 million (subject to increase)
This project is a major step toward ensuring a more reliable and efficient water supply for our residents. Thank you to the teams working hard to bring real change to our communities.
Let’s keep pushing forward for Ward 10!
