Our unique coastal town is arguably one of the most remarkable places in our country in terms of diversity.
A team of passionate locals are hard at work creating a high quality coffee table book dedicated to our breathtakingly beautiful coastal town, Betty’s Bay.
This hardcover treasure will feature 400 pages of captivating content, including:
- Vibrant photographs
- Detailed maps
- Mesmerising aerial views
- Exquisite botanical illustrations
This book will explore and document a wide array of themes including:
- The town’s rich history and geography
- Its diverse fauna and flora
- Governance structures
- Nature reserves, the Harold Porter National Botanical Gardens, scenic walks, and must-see places of interest
- The historic whaling station and intriguing shipwrecks
- Stories of pioneering families since the 1920s and vibrant community life
- Voices from different residential areas
- Local highlights like the Stony Point penguin colony, the Marine Protected Area, the Art Route and much more
We invite you to join this journey to celebrate Betty’s Bay. Close to a hundred sections will be contributed by enthusiastic residents, reflecting their insights, stories, and perspectives.

Your voice matters: We warmly invite you to participate by sharing your thoughts, stories, and visual material that captures the magic of our town. The deadline for contributions will be 14th June 2025.
The intention is to print 500 copies of this coffee table book at the reasonable price of R500 per copy. To ensure the book is affordable for everyone, it will be subsidised.
