The Municipality, Councillor, BBRA, BBNW, and other community groups work tirelessly to improve Betty’s Bay, often in difficult circumstances. They need collaboration, not opposition.
Constructive Participation vs. Empty Complaints
We welcome ideas, suggestions, and constructive discussions, but we also expect responsible participation. Too often, the same individuals criticize everything, from municipal projects to community efforts, yet never contribute, never attend meetings, and never participate in solutions. Despite their insistence that they “know better,” they avoid the real work that makes a difference. This behaviour does not align with the goals of our WhatsApp groups, which exist to share valuable information, organize local efforts, and encourage engagement.
Maintaining a Culture of Respect and Action
Our WhatsApp groups are not spaces for persistent negativity or personal grievances. If the way our group’s function is not suitable for certain individuals, we encourage them to find alternative platforms that align with their expectations. Moving forward, individuals who continue to disrupt discussions with repeated negativity, criticism without action, or disrespect towards community structures and administrators will be removed. Our priority is to foster an environment where collaboration, respect, and constructive conversations lead to real progress.

Crassula Hall: Community Use and Future Plans
As our lease agreement with the Municipality comes to an end in September, we are pleased to inform the community that a new lease is in place for renewal. This means that Crassula Hall will continue to serve as a central facility for community use, ensuring that local activities, gatherings, and initiatives remain uninterrupted.
New Kitchen Plans & HCCC’s Transition
One significant change moving forward will be the installation of a new kitchen in Crassula Hall. As part of this update, we have asked the Hangklip Community Care Centre (HCCC) to establish their own exclusive-use kitchen. While we were happy to assist them in a time of need by allowing them temporary use of the hall’s kitchen, it is now necessary to return the facility to its intended purpose, providing access to the entire community.
Currently, the hall’s communal kitchen is stored in the Neighbourhood Watch garage, as the existing setup has been used exclusively by the HCCC. However, from the outset, it was understood that this was a temporary arrangement to support their operations. Moving forward, we must honour our renewed lease agreement, ensuring Crassula Hall remains available for all residents rather than functioning as a dedicated space for a single group.
Encouraging Greater Community Engagement
While the HCCC and other ongoing activities will continue, our goal is to see increased community participation in the use of Crassula Hall. Whether for meetings, events, workshops, or recreational gatherings, we encourage more residents to make use of this valuable resource. With the new kitchen upgrade and renewed lease, we aim to create a space that is functional, welcoming, and accessible to all.
We appreciate the understanding and support of the community as we make these necessary adjustments to ensure Crassula Hall serves its intended function. We look forward to seeing more residents benefit from its use in the future.
The Jukskei Club will keep their space, and the Pickle Ball court will remain open for all to use. Once we have secured the erf next to the hall, we intend to upgrade the parking and create a beautiful fynbos garden for all to use and enjoy. This however will be a no dog zone.
