HCCC provides welfare services to the Hangklip community, i.e. residents of Betty’s Bay, Pringle Bay and Rooi Els. During the month of September we distributed 52 food parcels and cooked 474 scrumptuous, nutritious meals.
Our semiweekly Pilates and Line-dancing classes, weekly Bridge afternoons and monthly Friendship Circle meetings have continued as usual, the Bridge meetings now taking place at our HCC Centre, while the Pilates and Line-dancing classes will continue at the Crassula Hall in Betty’s Bay.
Following on from our HAIL (Home Assisted Independent Living) home carers’ courses in October 2022 and March 2023, we have set up carers’ support groups in each of Sunny Seas, Jock’s Bay, Central Betty’s Bay and Silversands.
A further home carers’ training course was presented during May in Pringle Bay.

A Tribute to Adrian de Kock
Adrian de Kock, who sadly passed away on 6 October, was a pillar of strength of the Hangklip Community Care Centre for many years. As secretary of the then Hangklip Fynbos Service Centre, he took the lead, in 2012, in transforming the organisation into a registered, independent NPO with its current name, constitution and funding base. Since taking over as treasurer, his characteristic drive, initiative and attention to detail ensured that HCCC has prospered and remained financially sound even through difficult times.
In spite of regular setbacks in his fight against cancer in recent years, he doggedly continued with his task as treasurer. Words such as “total commitment, dedication, scrupulously honest and caring” spring to mind. With his banking background he could account for each cent collected or disbursed. As a servant to the Hangklip community he would also ensure that value for money was obtained for each such cent and that the lives of the people were enriched – not only physically but also in terms of self-worth.
We honour the legacy he leaves behind and offer our sincere condolences to his wife Hazel and his family who lovingly supported him on his life journey.
