The Betty’s Bay Ratepayers Association (BBRA) pays tribute to Adrian De Kock, a man whose life of service and dedication has left an enduring legacy in our community.

Adrian was one of the pioneers of the BBRA, serving faithfully for many years as treasurer, leader, and organiser. He was instrumental in shaping the Association into the respected body it is today. His work was never about recognition, but about service, he gave of his time, his wisdom, and his energy unselfishly, always placing the needs of the community first.

As a firm but fair negotiator, Adrian had the ability to balance strength with diplomacy. He was deeply knowledgeable on all matters affecting our community and could communicate effectively with government and the Overstrand Municipality, ensuring that the voice of Betty’s Bay was heard and respected. The systems and structures he put in place remain the foundation of the BBRA, and we will continue to build on them with gratitude for his foresight and leadership.

Adrian was more than a leader, he was a patriarch of Betty’s Bay, a man of integrity, principle, and quiet strength. His presence at meetings, his steady guidance in times of challenge, and his unwavering belief in the value of community will be deeply missed.

He leaves behind his loving family, and especially his devoted wife, Hazel De Kock, who stood by his side and supported him in all his endeavours for the community. We acknowledge with gratitude the sacrifices and encouragement that made his service possible.

On behalf of the BBRA, we extend our sincere condolences to Hazel, to Adrian’s family, and to all who mourn his passing. His legacy will live on in the work of the Association and in the community, he served so faithfully.

Adrian De Kock will be remembered with respect, gratitude, and affection. A true servant of the people, a guardian of our community, and a gentleman to the end.
